Our story

Three eclipses across America — then home to build for Europe

Our work with eclipse glasses began long before Absolute Eclipse was founded. We chased totality across the United States — first in 2017, again for the 2023 “ring of fire”, and once more for the total eclipse of April 2024.

Each time, watching people look up safely through certified glasses left a lasting impression. After two decades in the UK, our family returned to Cēsis, Latvia — and when we learned the next great eclipse would cross Europe on 12 August 2026, we founded Absolute Eclipse™ to give the continent a trusted, local, fully-traceable source.

  1. 2017

    Where it started

The Great American Eclipse — our first attempt at chasing totality across the United States.

  2. October 2023

    The “ring of fire”

The annular eclipse sweeps the USA. We're there again — this time with the experience and the gear.

  3. 8 April 2024

    We stayed for totality

The total eclipse crosses North America. Thousands look up safely — and the idea for a trusted European source takes hold.

  4. Home to Latvia

    Back to Cēsis

After two decades in the UK, our family returns to Cēsis — bringing twenty years of experience with celestial events home.

  5. 2026

    Absolute Eclipse™ is founded

Built for Europe's 12 August 2026 total eclipse — EU-made, independently certified, and traceable to the batch.

Safety & traceability

Every step designed for quality, compliance and accountability

Certification only means something if you can prove it. So we make every pair provable — from where it was made to the batch it came from.

Made in the EU

Manufacturing takes place within the European Union, letting us keep strict oversight and full traceability across the whole production process.

Local oversight

Certified & tested

All products are independently tested and certified to EN ISO 12312-2:2015 and the EU PPE Regulation 2016/425 — Category II eye protection.

Independent lab

Instant verification

Each pair carries a scratch-off QR code. One quick scan confirms authenticity, batch details and access to the full compliance documents.

What guides us

Four principles behind every decision

01

Safety first

Every batch undergoes independent lab testing. If it isn't safe for our own children to use, it doesn't leave our facility.

02

Transparency

Each pair has a unique QR code and serial number. Customers and distributors can check exactly where their product came from.

03

Local commitment

By manufacturing in the EU, we keep production ethical, traceable, and close to the communities we serve.

04

Accessibility & education

We provide instructions in 24 languages and create resources that help schools and communities teach safe eclipse viewing.

Who we work with
