About Us
Learn about our work and why we do it
At Absolute Eclipse™, we are a family-run European company focused on one thing: making safe, traceable eclipse glasses.
Our goal is simple — to help communities across Europe experience a solar eclipse safely, without worrying about counterfeit products or poor-quality filters.
Our story
Our work with eclipse glasses began long before Absolute Eclipse was founded.
For years, we were involved in celestial events in the United States, including the Great American Eclipse of 2017. Seeing thousands of people safely watch a total eclipse using certified glasses we helped provide left a lasting impression on us.
After spending two decades in the UK, our family returned to Cēsis, Latvia. When we learned that the next major solar eclipse would cross Europe on August 12, 2026, we saw an urgent need for a trusted, local source of EU-compliant eclipse glasses.
Europe’s stricter safety regulations make it especially important for schools, cities, and distributors to have access to products that meet EN ISO 12312-2 standards and carry proper CE marking.
Absolute Eclipse™ was founded to meet that need.
We combine our experience with local manufacturing to create reliable, fully traceable eclipse glasses for both retail customers and wholesale partners.
Safety and traceability
Every step of our production process is designed to ensure quality, compliance, and accountability.
-
Made in the EU – Manufacturing takes place within the European Union, allowing us to maintain strict oversight and full traceability.
-
Certified and tested – All products are independently tested and certified to EN ISO 12312-2:2015 and EU PPE Regulation 2016/425.
-
Instant verification – Each pair of glasses includes a scratch-off QR code. A quick scan verifies authenticity, batch details, and access to compliance documents.
What guides us
Our decisions are shaped by four core principles:
-
Safety first
Every batch undergoes independent lab testing. If it isn’t safe for our own children to use, it doesn’t leave our facility. -
Transparency
Each pair has a unique QR code and serial number. Customers and distributors can check exactly where their product came from. -
Local commitment
By manufacturing in the EU, we keep production ethical, traceable, and close to the communities we serve. -
Accessibility and education
We provide instructions in 24 languages and create resources to help schools and communities teach safe eclipse viewing practices.
Who we work with
We supply eclipse glasses to a wide range of groups, including:
-
Schools and universities preparing educational events
-
Cities and municipalities hosting public viewing experiences
-
Museums and science centers offering hands-on astronomy programs
-
Astronomy clubs and amateur sky-watchers
-
Retailers and distributors stocking certified eclipse glasses for the public
Looking ahead
The 2026 total solar eclipse will be a historic event for Europe.
Our mission is to make sure everyone watching does so safely and confidently, using products that meet the highest international safety standards.
We aim to build a lasting foundation for safe solar viewing, not only for 2026 but for future generations of sky-watchers.
