La sequenza temporale
Quando avviene l’eclissi
The partial eclipse runs from about 19:22 to 21:09 CEST, with maximum coverage of 92.0% at around 20:17. The whole eclipse finishes before sunset at 21:11 CEST, so you are not racing the horizon here.
Dove posizionarsi
I migliori posti per osservare
Parc de Belleville
Elevated · east ParisOne of the best free views west across the whole city, looking straight down the axis toward the setting Sun. High enough to clear the rooftops and rarely as crowded as Montmartre.
Sacré-Cœur steps, Montmartre
Elevated · iconicThe highest natural point in the city with a broad southern and western outlook. Expect crowds, and note the basilica itself blocks part of the northern sky — position yourself on the western side of the steps.
Pont des Arts / Seine bridges
Open water · centralThe river cuts a wide, building-free corridor through the middle of Paris, and the bridges looking west down the Seine give a low, unobstructed view — useful as the Sun drops.
Parc de Saint-Cloud / Meudon
Elevated · west of cityThe wooded heights west of the city look back over Paris and give an open western horizon, well away from the crowds. A good option if you want space.
Travel south-west for totality
The real thingParis gets no totality at all. If the eclipse matters to you, northern Spain is within reach by train or plane — the difference between 92% and 100% is not a matter of degree, it is a completely different phenomenon.
Local astronomy societies and science centres often organise safe public viewing with filtered telescopes — worth checking closer to the date.

Le previsioni meteo
Il cielo sarà sereno?
Paris keeps the Sun a useful ~8° above the horizon at maximum, so unlike southern Europe you are not fighting the skyline.
August evenings here are changeable but often bright.
Cloud is the main risk rather than terrain.
A scattered-cloud evening still works — you only need gaps, not a perfect horizon.
