The Absolute Eclipse Solar Clip-On is a CE-certified eclipse filter designed to clip onto your everyday prescription glasses or sunglasses for safe direct observation of the Sun. The spring-loaded bridge with soft rubber-tipped clamp arms grips standard frames securely without scratching your lenses, and the flip-up hinge lets you lift the solar filter out of the way between observations — no need to remove the clip-on each time you glance away from the Sun.

The silver-black aluminised polymer filter transmits only about 0.0015 percent of visible light, an optical density of approximately OD 4.8, reducing the Sun's ultraviolet, visible and infrared radiation to safe viewing levels. The filter material has been independently tested to EN ISO 12312-2:2015 by ICS Laboratories (an ISO/IEC 17025 accredited test laboratory; report numbers T18671-01-1 / T18671-01-5), and the product has been EU type-examined under Regulation (EU) 2016/425 on Personal Protective Equipment by MTIC Intercert S.r.l., Notified Body 0068. CE marked, PPE Category II.

Designed for prescription-glasses wearers who don't want to remove their everyday spectacles to observe the Sun. The clip-on works with standard sunglasses and most prescription frame styles. Use during total and partial solar eclipses, sunspot observation, planetary transits, or any direct solar viewing. The flip-up hinge mechanism stays put under normal head movement so the filter never drops unexpectedly or flips up to expose your eyes to the Sun.

  • Clip-on for prescription glasses — the spring-loaded bridge slips over the front of standard prescription frames or everyday sunglasses, with soft rubber-tipped clamp arms that grip securely without scratching your lenses, so you can keep your eyewear on while safely viewing the Sun
  • Flip-up hinge — lift the silver-black eclipse filter out of the way between observations with the spring-tensioned hinge to glance at notes, sky maps or your equipment, then flip it back down before returning to view the Sun
  • Optical density OD 4.8 — the aluminised polymer filter transmits roughly 0.0015 percent of visible light, blocks over 99.998 percent of sunlight along with harmful ultraviolet and infrared, independently tested by ICS Laboratories (ISO/IEC 17025 accredited)
  • CE marked, PPE Category II, EN ISO 12312-2:2015 — EU type-examined under Regulation (EU) 2016/425 by MTIC Intercert S.r.l., Notified Body 0068 — the same regulatory standard as professional solar eclipse eyewear
  • 13.5 cm wide, ~18 g lightweight — ideal for total and partial eclipses, sunspot observation, planetary transits and direct sun viewing all year, particularly for eyeglass wearers who don't want to remove their everyday spectacles

⚠ Safety

This filter must be the only optical element between your eyes and the Sun. Never use behind a telescope eyepiece, binoculars or camera lens — concentrated sunlight will burn through the filter and cause instant, permanent eye injury. Inspect for scratches, pinholes or delamination before every use and discard immediately if any damage is found. Adult supervision required for children.
